Ring RAC830 review: features, limits & UK buying advice
Worth investigating for additional reach on a larger vehicle, subject to socket capacity and the exact tyre requirement. It is not an automatic recommendation for every van, caravan or motorhome. Reach, pressure and continuous workload are separate buying checks.

Our verdict
Consider it for its reach, then confirm your required pressure, socket rating and the manual’s operating limits. We would not call it a universal motorhome recommendation without those checks.
Reasons to consider
- Longer cable and hose than the ULTRAINFLATE 20
- Auto-stop and pressure-release valve
- Storage case supplied
Keep in mind
- Requires a suitable vehicle socket
- Large-tyre suitability still needs vehicle-specific checks
What it means in everyday use
The longer reach is the clearest practical distinction here. Ring lists a 3.5 m cable and 83 cm hose, compared with 3 m and 60 cm on the ULTRAINFLATE 20. That can make placement easier on a larger vehicle, but reach alone does not establish the ability to repeatedly inflate large tyres at higher pressures. Confirm both the vehicle’s requirements and the pump’s operating limits.
Ring positions the RAC830 for larger vehicles and specifies a 3.5 m power cable and 83 cm hose. It offers preset auto-stop and a pressure-release valve. It connects to a vehicle socket; it is not the battery-clamp RAC900.

Speed, accuracy and battery claims
These details are manufacturer specifications. We have not verified its performance at motorhome pressures, repeated-tyre endurance or compatibility with your particular vehicle.
The 180W rating makes checking the permitted vehicle socket load particularly important. Read the vehicle and pump instructions, including any cooling interval. We have not verified this model on a loaded motorhome or carried out repeated-tyre endurance tests.
We have not established a comparable noise, endurance or long-term reliability result. We therefore do not assign a numerical performance score.
What is included — and what costs extra?
Ring lists a storage case and three adaptors, along with an LED light, automatic stop and a pressure-release valve. This model is socket powered. It should not be confused with Ring’s RAC900 battery-clamp compressor.

RAC830 or ULTRAINFLATE 20?
The RAC830’s 3.5 m cable is 50 cm longer than the RTI120’s 3 m cable. Ring also lists a longer air hose. That makes reach the clearest supported reason to investigate it. The ULTRAINFLATE 20 has an attributed Auto Express group-test result; we do not have a matched independent test that proves the RAC830 is faster on a motorhome tyre.

Check these before ordering
- Match the model identifier: Heavy Duty Digital Tyre Inflator.
- Confirm your required pressure from the vehicle handbook or placard.
- Check power compatibility, hose positioning and the complete kit cost.
- Read the exact operating and cooling instructions before use.
- Check current seller, returns terms and stock at the retailer.
Specification note: Ring’s online listing gives an 83 cm hose; the RAC830 manual lists 850 mm. We have not measured the supplied hose.
How this assessment was prepared
These are research-led editorial assessments, based on exact UK manufacturer specifications and clearly attributed published tests. A specification is evidence of a stated feature, not proof of real-world speed, accuracy or durability. Read our editorial policy.
Frequently asked questions
Does the RAC830 connect directly to the battery?
The RAC830 is a 12V vehicle-socket model. Do not confuse it with the Ring RAC900 battery-clamp compressor.
Is the hose 83 cm or 85 cm?
Ring’s current product listing gives 83 cm, while its instruction manual lists 850 mm (85 cm). We use the current listing in our table and flag the discrepancy; confirm the supplied version if those last centimetres matter.
Is it suitable for every motorhome?
No universal recommendation follows from the heavy-duty label. Check the vehicle’s required cold pressure, tyre volume, socket rating and the exact pump operating limits before buying.
